The SSMA is introducing two new classes of authority to enable handgatherers to use vessels to access the Carsethorn Bank bed only. These authorities will be valid only while the Carsethorn Bank bed is open to handgatherers and will be revoked immediately the Carsethorn Bank bed is closed to handgatherers.

The classes are a Cockle Transport Vessel (CTV) authority which will be authorised to transport SSMA licensees and cockles to and from designated landing ports and a Licensee Transport Vessel (LTV) authority which will be authorised to carry SSMA licensees to and from the Carsethorn Bank.
